| Nice very nicely done. I had seen this done before in a larger scale and the guy used solder for the bark. Your method is much more realistic and better looking. Great job. I actualy did a wire tree but never put bark on it I am going to use your method for the bark. Thanks for sharing this idea. | |

| Thank you guys, glad you liked it :). Ejsimelaro, I'd love to see some pics with your trees. It would be great to post an article with some pics, if you find some spare time. | |

| Excellent build Viorel. Now excuse me but I'm busy searching for some electric wires ;-) | |

| LOL :)). You might as well follow my example and dismember some working outlet ;). Maybe you will also take some pictures and share with us ? | |

| Wow, it looks really great. Very impressive :) How long did it take you to build it? And another question: I noticed you used extra wires for the thin branches and glued them to the trunk. It looks kind of complicated and I think the branches may fall down easier. Can't you find a thicker cable with more wires so you don't have to glue extra ones for more branches? Thanks. | |
| Viorel | 13:12, 17 December 2006 (MST) |
| Thanks iulica :). It took around 8 hours (the photos and this article included). It's hard to use a single cable both for thick and thin branches, as there is not enough room available to create the smaller branches. Making each branch separated is simpler ;) | |

Great work! I learned a technique for making home made, and relatively simple, conifer trees. (http://imageshack.us) The system is basically the same. I used pices of fiberglass furnace filters and wood skewers (stained with dark stain) for the trunks. |

| I was looking forward to reading this article about how you've made the trees. The idea is simple (although it took you about 8 hours to make the tree and all) and ingenious. And we really like simplicity, don't we? ;) To my surprise, the trees are actually much smaller then I expected (a very good idea comparing the tree with another object). A very meticulous job, indeed. | |

| And one more thing. I didn't understand why you had to dry the tree the first time? It wasn't painted or anything, yet. | |
| Viorel | 01:38, 18 December 2006 (MST) |
| We all like simplicity indeed, Diane  It was the glue that needed to be dried. I had to make the smaller branches separatelly, and attach them later to the trunk (not enough space available to build everything in one piece :D) | |

| Hello Viorel, Again GREAT looking SMALL tree=)) Why don't you try very fine colored sawdust?( from MDF wood) I use this for mine and the ones I placed on the N scale modules of our club In combination with the fibers from the filters and the small grasfibres There will be exellent results in scale N: Grove den p.s. ( posted this morning something to you on the other side of the great pond =)) ) | |

| I've done something similar, but used longer strands of wire twisted together to form the whole tree then covered with net foliage. What did you use to glue the green to the branches? And, was the cement you used just the powder that you mixed into the white glue before applying it to the trunks? | |

| Unfortunately, I've used only local Romanian brands (I'm not sure these might be available in your country). The glue was an industrial glue used for wood ( the brand it's "aracet" :) ). The cement I've used the kind it's used in construction as a final layer for house walls (it's called "ipsos" in Romanian). I think any glue that is not too white when it dries should be OK. | |
